Pearl on the Rock
Takes Silver and Bronze at
Restaurant Awards

White Rock, B.C. - It has been a banner start to 2007 for the staff of Pearl on the Rock. In March, Wine Director Jordan Carriers wine program was recognized with a Silver Glass Award at the Vancouver International Playhouse Wine Festival. "We love wine, it's just that simple" Carrier commented. "I am honoured to have been upgraded from a bronze to silver glass this year. There are a lot of great wine programs in the city and to be recognized alongside a small handful of them is amazing."

The start of 2007 also saw the acquisition of esteemed Executive Chef, Seamus Havlin. Havlin joins the team at Pearl after spending two years at the renowned Alexis Bistro in Calgary. In 2006, under his command, Alexis was recognized as one of the top 25 new restaurants in all of Canada by En Route Magazine. Prior to Alexis, Havlin created culinary masterpieces for the West Coast Wilderness Lodge and Resort. During his tenure, the San
Fransisco Chronicle called Havlin "The Thomas Keller of British Columbia." Havlin noted "I am not here to change Pearl, only help to improve it. We will continue to use organic producers such as Hazelmere Farm and Vista d'Oro Farm. I am very proud to be part of the Oceanwise Program and believe in sustainability. I really think our new Spring/Summer menu shines." "It is the next step for us towards culinary excellence" said Assistant Director of Operations, Heather Bramham. Bramham furthered "We are all really excited about his arrival."

Most recently on April 16th, Pearl was honoured at the 18th Annual Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards with a Bronze Award for "Best GVRD Destination." "The restaurant business is the toughest thing I have ever done. The team at Pearl works towards the Awards all year, where hundreds of restaurants compete. It is a wonderful feeling to watch our restaurant grow and have all our hard work be recognized" Braham noted.
