It's time for white tea granita.
The latest in summer refreshers
(NC)-Across the country, trendy summer parties are shaking up the scene with tempting drink concoctions. This year's popular and exotic beverage is white iced tea, which is light tasting and delicious on its own and adds a special twist to mixed beverages or as a refreshing and good-for-you frozen dessert.
With white tea-based iced teas all the rage this summer, it's easy to impress your guests with a dessert or refresher known as granita (also called Italian water ice). Granita is a frozen dessert that consists of shaved ice, sugar and juice or other flavours. Granita has a long and ancient history and is now a common and inexpensive treat found in Italy. Try this simple recipe and your guests are sure to be impressed.
White Tea Granita
Ingredients
. 2 bottles (591-ml) Lipton White Tea Method
. Pour tea into two shallow pans (13" x 9" x 2")/(33cm x 23cm x 5cm)
. Place pans with the tea in freezer
. Stir with a large fork or strong whisk every half an hour until entirely crystallized, typically about 2 hours
. The texture should resemble snow
. Gently pour into chilled storage containers and place in the freezer, quickly so it doesn't melt the Lipton White Tea
. Granita may be made two days in advance and kept covered and frozen
. Scoop some on a hot summer's day and share with your friends
. Scrape the granita with a fork to lighten the texture
Serves 2 people as a dessert or 6 people as a refresher.
